Meet Marissa Tharpe - Event Manager Marissa has been with "The Chateaux" since 1998. She has worked over 350 events
Tell us a little about yourself: I am Pam's daughter and have worked at "The Chateaux" since the beginning, at age 14. I have a daughter, Jordyn (3). I dream of opening a bridal boutique right beside "The Chateaux". Also, I recently got married at "The Chateaux" on New Years Eve 2008.
What is your favorite quote? "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". "Gandhi"
What is the latest wedding trend you have noticed? Instead of just picking solid colors as the scheme of your wedding, try introducing a graphic or floral print to accent the solid colors. Look for inspiration at a fabric store and use the print fabric as favor bags, table runners and where ever else your imagination takes you. Saturday nights may still be the first choice for weddings, but Firday and even Thursday evenings are starting to be a lot more popular. Not only are those days more inexpensive, but out of town guests only have to take one day off of work, which they may have done anyway for a weekend event.
My (5) event planning tips:
- Use your personal style as a guide when choosing an overall theme for your wedding.
- If you are trying to stick to a budget, choose beer and wine and maybe a signature drink instead of a full liquor bar.
- Have Fun! Don't let the stress of planning your wedding over take the fact that you are marrying the one you love.
- Our inclusive packages are a really good choice. Not only does it simplify your life, but it is also more of a guarantee that your event will run smoothly.
- Consider seeing each other before the ceremony. Plan a special reveal in front of your photographer. This gives you close to an hour of extra time with your guests.
